At-Takwir 81:1
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ1
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
Izash shamsu kuwwirat
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
At-Takwir 81:2
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ2
And when the stars fall, dispersing,
Wa izan nujoomun kadarat
At-Takwir 81:3
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ3
And when the mountains are removed
Wa izal jibaalu suyyirat
At-Takwir 81:4
وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ4
And when full-term she-camels are neglected
Wa izal 'ishaaru 'uttilat
At-Takwir 81:5
وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ5
And when the wild beasts are gathered
Wa izal wuhooshu hushirat
At-Takwir 81:6
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ6
And when the seas are filled with flame
Wa izal bihaaru sujjirat
At-Takwir 81:7
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ7
And when the souls are paired
Wa izan nufoosu zuwwijat
At-Takwir 81:8
وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ8
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
Wa izal maw'oodatu su'ilat
At-Takwir 81:9
بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍۢ قُتِلَتْ9
For what sin she was killed
Bi ayyi zambin qutilat
At-Takwir 81:10
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ10
And when the pages are made public
Wa izas suhufu nushirat
At-Takwir 81:11
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ11
And when the sky is stripped away
Wa izas samaaa'u kushitat
At-Takwir 81:12
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ12
And when Hellfire is set ablaze
Wa izal jaheemu su'-'irat
At-Takwir 81:13
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ13
And when Paradise is brought near,
Wa izal jannatu uzlifat
At-Takwir 81:14
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ14
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].
'Alimat nafsum maaa ahdarat
At-Takwir 81:15
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ15
So I swear by the retreating stars -
Falaaa uqsimu bil khunnas
At-Takwir 81:16
ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ16
Those that run [their courses] and disappear -
Al jawaaril kunnas
At-Takwir 81:17
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ17
And by the night as it closes in
Wallaili izaa 'as'as
At-Takwir 81:18
وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ18
And by the dawn when it breathes
Wassubhi izaa tanaffas
At-Takwir 81:19
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ19
[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
Innahoo laqawlu rasoolin kareem
At-Takwir 81:20
ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍۢ20
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
Zee quwwatin 'inda zil 'arshi makeen
At-Takwir 81:21
مُّطَاعٍۢ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍۢ21
Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
Mutaa'in samma ameen
At-Takwir 81:22
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍۢ22
And your companion is not [at all] mad.
Wa maa saahibukum bimajnoon
At-Takwir 81:23
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ23
And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.
Wa laqad ra aahu bilufuqil mubeen
At-Takwir 81:24
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍۢ24
And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
Wa maa huwa 'alal ghaibi bidaneen
At-Takwir 81:25
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ رَّجِيمٍۢ25
And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
Wa maa huwa biqawli shaitaanir rajeem
At-Takwir 81:26
فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ26
So where are you going?
Fa ayna tazhaboon
At-Takwir 81:27
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ27
It is not except a reminder to the worlds
In huwa illaa zikrul lil'aalameen
At-Takwir 81:28
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ28
For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
Liman shaaa'a minkum ai yastaqeem
At-Takwir 81:29
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ29
And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.
Wa maa tashaaa'oona illaaa ai yashaaa 'al laahu Rabbul 'Aalameen
